These two Welcomings are generously sponsored by Marion Weinreb, The Living Room Board Member, and a couple who wishes to remain anonymous. The sponsors’ support will provide a “Starter Kit” of essential items right away, help us collect and install donated furniture and other household goods, purchase brand-new beds for the family, and have items from various donors delivered by professional movers.

Read below to learn more about the individuals we’ll be helping, and sign up to donate gently used furniture or essential household items.

Home 1 is where Nicole lives. Nicole has been chronically homeless since 2023; she lost her car and support system and found it hard to get back on track. She has been working hard to search for employment and has just found two-part time jobs working as a visual merchandiser at retail shops while keeping another part time job. Nicole has a fun spirit and is excited about life again. She loves to cook, and her dream is to open a food truck business soon. Through the support of COTS she has been able to secure an apartment and is looking forward to Welcoming Homes assisting in making her new apartment a home for her and her beloved dog, a Frenchie named ice Spice. Please reach out to Lydia at 707-583-3931 for donation drop off or pick up for HOME 1 items.

Karen and her family live in Home 2, she was referred to us by TLC Child & Family Services. Karen has had a very hard life with addict parents. She pretty much has moved from place to place since she turned sixteen. A few years ago she and her high school boyfriend moved to Arizona but he ended up making some very bad choices and lost all their money. Karen hoped her mom could help her with her daughter (now three) but that did not work out. She and her mom’s sister Veronica have become quite close and are sharing a 2 bedroom apartment to support each other. Veronica works in home health care. Karen works full time and her aunt is applying for disability due to back injuries. She has also had a very hard life and is in recovery. Thanks to Keeping People Housed, they received some rental assistance to move in to their new apartment but have very little to create a home. Karen’s daughter, Jaden is three and loves princesses! Fortunately, Jaden’s father’s parents are able to provide day care as Karen works full time. Please send pictures and dimensions of proposed donations to Laura before signing up for large items, text 805-705-6851. Contact Laura for donation drop off info for HOME 2 items.
