Family Gets A Lovely and Healthy Home
This family of five—including two sons in first and tenth grade, and a daughter in third grade—had to leave their apartment after the landlord repeatedly ignored a severe black mold issue. The apartment sustained multiple incidents of flooding to the point where floors had become spongy.
When two of the children began experiencing significant health issues, the family made the difficult decision to leave the apartment along with most of their personal belongings, including their furniture.
With help from Marin Center for Independent Living, they are now settling into a clean, two-bedroom (albeit almost empty) apartment with a spacious patio.
The family is deeply grateful to an anonymous sponsor who immediately provided a starter kit of essential household items and offered to cover the cost of brand-new beds, moving services and other critical items that cannot be donated.
They are also very appreciative of Welcoming Home's help to make this all happen.

BEFORE

Return
The family is delighted with their newly designed home and is very grateful to the anonymous donor who provided sponsorship.
Following their Welcoming Home event Nancy texted us:
"We are so happy and grateful for everything you have done for us and our home. It's so nice to come home to a welcoming house now, knowing we will be safe and comfortable! Thank you for everything, and blessings for all you do for families in need!"
It was such a pleasure for our Welcoming Home volunteers to furnish and decorate this two bedroom apartment for Nancy and her lovely family. In addition to the many wonderful household donations they also received a patio table with chairs and a BBQ so they can now enjoy summer evenings outside.

About Sponsored Welcomings
"Sponsorship" means paying for the brand new mattresses, box springs and frames; the cost of the movers; the Starter Kit of necessary items that the individual or family needs in the short term, and any needed items that aren't donated. To enable us to help more people, we need more organizations, groups of friends, schools, etc. to sponsor Welcomings.
