Respite Room Gets a Makeover

In early June, local non-profit Homeward Bound of Marin asked Welcoming Home to "brighten up" and furnish one of their "Transition to Wellness Respite Rooms."

These rooms are made available to homeless individuals who are released from the hospital and have nowhere to go while they recover from surgery or a serious illness. Homeward Bound wanted to provide a comfortable and supportive environment for individuals recovering after being discharged from the hospital.

Before we went to work, the room looked pretty much like a hospital room; check out the "before" pictures.
When we finished, it was a cheerful, comfortable place to allow residents to focus on regaining their health.

Homeward Bound called our work "an incredible transformation!"

About Sponsored Welcomings

"Sponsorship" means paying for the brand new mattresses, box springs and frames; the cost of the movers; the Starter Kit of necessary items that the individual or family needs in the short term, and any needed items that aren't donated. To enable us to help more people, we need more organizations, groups of friends, schools, etc. to sponsor Welcomings.
