Sponsored Welcoming
On July 11, Welcoming Home volunteers enthusiastically transformed an empty apartment into a cozy home for a delightful couple in Santa Rosa.
Retired and living with disabilities, Olivia and Morgan lived with family but when the parents decided to re-model, the couple had to move out. They've been living in their car at a safe parking spot for the last year and a half.
Thanks to The Living Room, they were able to secure their own apartment. And thanks to Living Room Board member, Marion Weinreb, that empty apartment was fully furnished and equipped. Marion was the sponsor of the furnishing, through Welcoming Home. Being a sponsor meant she funded the costs of movers, new beds, a Starter Kit, and any items not donated by the community.
Olivia and Morgan are so very ready to have a home and all the comforts it affords: a relaxing cup of coffee, a home-cooked meal with a kitchen to cook it in, a bed to sleep in, a bathroom to bathe in, a TV to watch and even a patio to enjoy on a sunny day!
Return Home
This grateful couple was amazed at the transformation of their apartment saying, “The choices you made are right on!"
Special Thanks
Very special thanks to the Oakmont Rainbow Women pictured below next to Olivia and Morgan: Debbie Siegel, Olivia, Morgan, Laura Kenig (volunteer lead), Lynn Youdall, Jean Mills and Page Monte (not pictured) and their friend Susi Heidenreich (not pictured). This volunteer team worked hard in sweltering heat to set up the apartment all in one afternoon.
