A Marin Welcoming Sponsored by Gaby Federal and Jill Kantola
Renee is the picture of resilience, determination and a positive attitude. If you spend a while talking with her, you know she will do whatever it takes to raise her children to be successful and that she, herself, will nail whatever she puts her mind to.
A few years ago, after 13 years of marriage, she became a victim of domestic violence. She was able to flee her home and find refuge in a series of shelters, finally being accepted into Homeward Bound’s transitional housing, where she and her three children have lived for the last five years.
The family has been waiting to secure permanent housing for three years. They were all thrilled to have just moved into a sunny apartment in a very safe neighborhood. In spite of the hard times they’ve been through, the children are happy and thriving, due largely to Renee’s positive outlook, instilling in them a sense of security and self-confidence. Renee has just passed the test for becoming a Golden Gate transit bus driver and is so looking forward to starting the job. Her oldest daughter wants to be a family law attorney and is running for class president. Her youngest daughter wants to be a clothing designer living in Paris 😊. The little boy doesn’t know what he wants to be yet, but it might involve dinosaurs; he can name all the different types!
Renee is so grateful that through Jill and Gaby’s sponsorship the family's apartment was fully furnished.

The family was so excited when they returned! As you can see, the boy claimed his throne and all three went in for a group hug. The Mom was so grateful. "I never imagined this is what you would do. It is so beautiful!"
Deepest thanks to Gaby and Jill for making this happen. You two are truly angels 🙂
