Another Sponsored Welcoming Thanks to a Marin Family

The furnishing of Zoe's home was sponsored by a Marin family who have sponsored a number of previous "Welcomings."

Thanks to Marin Housing Authority's Below Market Rate Homeownership Program, Zoe was able to purchase a very small apartment. This program makes selected units available to low income eligible applicants, helping people who are priced out of the typical housing market to buy a home. She was then referred by Marin Housing Authority to Welcoming Home to furnish the apartment she now proudly owns. Zoe has a full time job and supports herself and her 16- year-old son, Levi. While they had cobbled together some essentials in their home, there were many things they didn't have: clean beds, furniture in good condition, plates, silverware, etc. Zoe had spent much of her adult life living in cars and was so grateful to hear that Welcoming Home would be able to furnish her new place.

Return

Zoe was so happy when she walked into her "new" place. "Oh my gosh," she said, "it feels like we walked into a vacation cabin or something. It's so peaceful and nice." Her son tried out his new bed, which now had a good view of the poster of his favorite basketball star, Trae Young. Zoe texted us a couple of days later ... "The place is so cozy, I just want to go to my cozy space; you made it wonderful. I keep discovering new things I didn't even realize you gave us, including some new pans in the oven, which is also where I discovered Levi hid dirty dishes when he cleaned the kitchen."

About Sponsored Welcomings

"Sponsorship" means paying for the brand new mattresses, box springs and frames; the cost of the movers; the Starter Kit of necessary items that the individual or family needs in the short term, and any needed items that aren't donated. To enable us to help more people, we need more organizations, groups of friends, schools, etc. to sponsor Welcomings.
