A Sonoma Sponsored Welcoming Thanks to Randy Ruark and Laura Kenig
Cynthia is a single mom of three boys - ages two, three and four. She works as many hours as she can as a chef, dropping her children off at daycare at 5:00 a.m, Monday through Friday, to get to her job by 5:30. In spite of many hardships, she is doing all that she can to provide for her boys.
Cynthia’s mom had her when she was just 14 years old. Both of her parents had significant health challenges; she no longer has any living family members.
She and her boys lived with the children's dad for five years but he was mentally and emotionally abusive, and did not provide any financial help. Cynthia finally got the courage to leave but then, just three weeks later, she got laid off from her job.
At that point she felt forced to make the very difficult decision to leave their apartment and belongings because she didn’t want an eviction and knew she wasn’t able to afford the home on unemployment. Friends took them in until she could get back on her feet.
Now she is starting all over again. It has been hard as a single Mom with no family or anyone that can really help. She has been, understandably, very stressed about providing the basic essentials for her home as well as being able to celebrate the upcoming Christmas holidays with her children!
Cynthia is especially grateful for the help provided by Welcoming Home's donors and volunteers right before the holidays.

AFTER

Return
As Cynthia wandered throughout her home she was so excited! “Wow, you guys are awesome!" she said. "This is amazing, I could cry. Thanks so much!"
The boys squealed with delight as they eagerly jumped inside the new play tent, and marveled of their various new toys.

This Welcoming event was generously sponsored by mother/daughter team - Randy Ruark and Laura Kenig. Their support helped to us provide a basic starter kit of essentials to the family right away, then to collect and install donated furniture and other household items, purchase brand-new beds for them and have all items delivered by professional movers from various donors to the client’s home.
About Sponsored Welcomings
"Sponsorship" means paying for the brand new mattresses, box springs and frames; the cost of the movers; the Starter Kit of necessary items that the individual or family needs in the short term, and any needed items that aren't donated. To enable us to help more people, we need more organizations, groups of friends, schools, etc. to sponsor Welcomings.
