Marin Country Day School Sponsored Welcoming
For the fourth year in a row, the administrators and staff of Marin Country Day School sponsored the furnishing of a formerly homeless family's apartment through Welcoming Home. Before they worked their magic, the place that Caroline and her three boys (two teenagers and a 21-month old) lived in was virtually empty.
Caroline has had a tough road; she suffered abuse first from her father and then from her husband.
When the MCDS volunteers met with Caroline, her strength and grace were evident, as well as her strong focus on providing the best she can for her sons' needs. Wanting to foster her toddler's creativity, she asked for a child's easel for him to use to paint and draw. The MCDS team knew that this was a family who will make the most of this fresh start!

Caroline and the boys were thrilled when they arrived to see their transformed home! Each room brought expressions of wonder. Caroline especially loved the cool red lamp in the living room, the silver dresser in her bedroom and the bird painting in the hallway.

MCDS Volunteers at Work
Welcoming Home is so grateful to the MCDS team for sponsoring the Welcoming (covering the costs of movers, brand new beds, the Starter Kit and any items not donated,) as well as for their hard work in sourcing the items that the family needed and for rolling up their sleeves and furnishing the home in just one afternoon.
About Sponsored Welcomings
"Sponsorship" means paying for the brand new mattresses, box springs and frames; the cost of the movers; the Starter Kit of necessary items that the individual or family needs in the short term, and any needed items that aren't donated. To enable us to help more people, we need more organizations, groups of friends, schools, etc. to sponsor Welcomings.
