Sponsored Welcoming
After many years in an abusive relationship, Consuela felt she had no choice but to flee with her children. Initially, they stayed with family and friends until she was able to secure an apartment. But due to lack of work during the pandemic, she was unable to continue the rent payments and once again found herself in transient living situations.
Fortunately, through the efforts of North Marin Community Services, she was recently able to move into an apartment with her two kids.
Her son, age 15, attends the local high school and her daughter, age 13, is in middle school.
To ensure financial stability for her family, Consuela is currently working two jobs: as a nanny during the day and cleaning offices in the evenings.
Return Home
The furnishing of Consuela's apartment was sponsored by Westminster Presbyterian Church.
As she toured her newly furnished home, Consuela repeated several times that it was a dream come true! She said that this is the first time she's had a place of her own with her kids where she doesn't feel she has to worry. It's also the first time she actually feels hopeful for the future.
Consuela is so grateful that Westminster Presbyterian Church has given her such a wonderful home where her family can have a fresh start. Under the leadership of Carol Coffman, church volunteers not only donated funds to cover the cost of new beds, moving services, a Starter Kit of necessities and any needed items that weren't donated, but also worked hard on Welcoming Day to accept donations, package them up, assemble some furniture, and install everything in the afternoon while the residents were away.
We need more sponsors to do what Westminster Presbyterian did, so that we can help more families. For more information, contact info@welcominghome.org.
