A Sponsored Marin Welcoming
Just before Christmas, on December 21st, a couple who wish to be anonymous jumped in and sponsored the furnishing of a single woman’s home when they heard her story.
Jody had been living on the streets for 10 years when she was finally able to get into a womens’ shelter that specializes in PTSD/trauma. She was then on waiting lists for permanent housing for three years. Thanks to Marin County Housing Authority, Jody now has a cozy little apartment.
Reaction
Jody had been reluctant to ask us for much. She was just grateful to be receiving any furniture at all.
When she returned to her newly furnished apartment, we could tell that she was overwhelmed by what she saw. She quietly repeated multiple “thank you’s.” It was clear that she finally feels safe and has a comfortable and warm place to call home.
We need more individuals, groups, businesses, schools, etc. to sponsor Welcomings. This means paying for movers, new beds, a starter kit and a few items that we may not get donated. If you can help, please reach out to us at [email protected] for more information.
