A Fifth Home

Thanks to the generosity of Sotoodeh, Marin and Associates dental practice in Corte Madera https://finesmiles.com, non-profit Welcoming Home was able to furnish a fifth apartment for a formerly homeless Marin family in October. 

The grateful family is a single Mom who had escaped domestic violence with her four children. She was able to secure housing after months of being homeless, but as a housekeeper she was unable to afford any furniture once the family moved in over the summer.
 
Doctors Sotoodeh and Marin offered to sponsor a special “Welcoming” for the family. Sponsorship means footing the cost of numerous elements of furnishing the home, such as providing brand-new beds, moving expenses, etc. The dentists, along with one of their staff, even contributed elbow grease in working with volunteers to finish up the installation of furniture and household goods and were there to greet the family when they returned to their “new” home.
 
Just before the family arrived, two employees from United Markets, San Rafael, https://unitedmarkets.com brought bagsful of groceries that the store donated.

The family was beyond thrilled when they saw how their apartment had been transformed. One of the children presented the sponsors and Welcoming Home volunteers with flowers and handmade thank you cards.
 
We are so grateful to SMA dental practice for their generous commitment to community service that made it possible to exceed our regular four Marin “Welcomings” every other month.
