SUMMARY:5/16/2026 – Sponsored Welcoming Event – Marin
DESCRIPTION:Sign-up link for needed items: \n\nMarianna was referred to us by Adopt a Family. She is a single mother of four children, all under the age of 11. Several years ago, while living with her partner in her native country, she took in a young man with developmental challenges who had been living on the streets, abandoned by his family. He is still part of Marianna’s household today, helping with childcare and daily tasks.\nUntil recently, the six of them were living in a small studio in the South Bay, where Marianna supported the family by delivering Instacart orders whenever she could. Thinking that it would make it easier on her, her sister invited the family to move in with her in Marin County. Unfortunately, the arrangement didn’t work out, and Marianna and her family had to leave.\nThey spent a period of time living in their car, followed by a stay in a motel. Fortunately, Adopt a Family stepped in, helping Marianna access food resources and secure an apartment. While she has managed to gather a few basic furniture items – such as used mattresses and an old sofa – the family has very few household essentials, often eating from plastic plates with just a few utensils.\nMarianna is deeply grateful to an anonymous sponsor who has already provided a starter kit of essentials and will further support the family by covering the cost of brand-new beds, moving services, and funding for critical items that are not donated.\nWelcoming Home is now working on finding the needed gently used furniture and household items for Marianna’s apartment. We are once again reaching out to our incredibly generous and caring community to help give this family a fresh start. Please see the list below for specific items needed.\nFor more information on how you—or your family, colleagues, club, church, or school—can sponsor a “Welcoming” for a family in need, please contact info@welcominghome.org.\n
